Statement in support of #NousToutes and victims in France

Statement from our CEO about Brigitte Marcon's behaviour while supporting Ary Abittan

Published on 08/12/2025

Following the unacceptable words used by Brigitte Macron towards women's rights campaigners this evening, Women for Women France stands in solidarity with Nous Toutes.

Calling any woman a "stupid b**ch" is unacceptable in any context. The images of Brigitte Macron using this slur to describe victim rights activists while laughing with an alleged perpetrator of sexual violence is an insult to all survivors in France, and to those of us working tirelessly to defend their rights. We are striving to change the culture that underpins abusive behaviour towards women, and this is a prime example of of it.

We are thinking of the survivors of sexual violence listening to her words, seeing her finding this amusing, and the distress this incident will have caused.
